PETCO has an opportunity for a Supply Chain Analyst to coordinate quarterly runs of PETCO's Activity Based Cost (ABC) model. This includes the validation of manual feeds, staging tables and calculation results. Trains associates on the ABC model and its uses. Identifies areas of opportunity from the ABC results, tying financial and performance metrics to impact cost, margins, and net profitability and improves processes. Formulates a business case and presents recommendations to management. Provides profitability reports to management and other analysts for: manufacturers, SKUs, departments, subclasses, shops, districts, zones, distribution centers and other categories.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates the quarterly runs of the ABC model. This includes gathering all manual feeds, validating staging tables and validating calculation results
2. Develops new allocation procedures and documentation when business processes change to reflect the current state of business and produce accurate financial reports, which will affect management decisions on the direction of our business.
3. Reviews ABC model reports for exceptions to the “norm”
4. Provides recommendations on improving profitability through data mining and analysis. Identifies business opportunities from the ABC results, to reduce cost, improve productivity, and/or positively affect financial and performance metrics. Formulates the business case and presents it to management.
5. Develops all profitability reports including but not limited to:
a. DC profitability
b. DC by department profitability
c. DC by manufacturer
d. Retail department
e. Class
f. Subclass
g. Shop
h. Brand
i. Import Vs Domestic by Subclass
j. District
k. District by Store Type
l. SKU
m. District Store Type SKU
n. Other Categories
6. Develops analytical reporting relative to the ABC model.
7. Trains new associates on the ABC model and its application to all business processes.
8. Engage in and execute ABC related projects from start date to completion date formalizing the scope of the projects, methodology, action, resources required, outcome expectations, findings, and present alternative recommendations to management.
Education and Experience:
A college degree in accounting, business, finance, supply chain, mathematics, statistics or analytical field is required and an MBA is preferred. Advanced skills in using Excel, Access, and DSS (or similar system) are required as well as familiarity with Microsoft Office related software. Minimum of 4 years working with database systems including report writing, statistical and financial analysis, strong communication including presentation skills and report development is required. Also required, a minimum of 3 years background in supply chain analysis related retail positions. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience can be substituted for a degree.
