Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Proposal Content Manager plays a lead role in executing the strategic objectives of the Institutional Content Group (ICG), particularly in regard to the spectrum of content supporting client acquisition outputs, such as RFPs, RFIs and DDQs. The position oversees the development and maintenance of:
Content in support of new or repositioned investment strategies,
Non-investment content, such as trading, operations, legal and compliance; and
Content that can be converted into marketing outputs.
As a result, the position is a primary driver of outputs that introduce T. Rowe Price to a broad base of global prospects and consultants, providing market-facing associates with a key tool in gathering assets for the firm.
Drawing on a proven ability to create compelling institutional content, the individual must demonstrate a sound understanding of global financial markets, varied investment vehicles, institutional distribution channels, and the firm’s competitors. In addition, the individual must be able to grasp and articulate brand-building qualities, such as the creation and implementation of a consistent “institutional voice” in all types of content.
Principal Responsibilities:
The Proposal Content Manager is responsible for managing the development of a range of content outputs integral to the institutional sales and marketing efforts of T. Rowe Price.
Primary duties include:
1. Collaborating with key internal (CM) and external (Business Units) stakeholders whose input aids in shaping high-quality institutional content, including:
*RFP Editors;
*RFP Specialists;
*Institutional Writers;
*Subject Matter Experts (SMEs);
*Portfolios Analysts, Specialists and Managers; and
*Market-Facing Professionals
2. Creating new, strategy specific content across wide-ranging features of newly launched and/or repositioned investment vehicles with a specific focus on precise, informed and impactful responses to RFP-based questions.
3. Collaborating with RFP Editors and Institutional Writers on providing answers for one-off questions, often characterized as “outliers,” for deadline-driven sales/marketing outputs.
4. Developing a disciplined framework for capturing and instilling attributes that lead to industry standard content, such as:
*Institutional Voice;
*Impactful positioning elements and associated messaging; and
*Distinguishing proof statements and data points supporting assertions.
5. Accessing and reviewing previously written RFP content that resides in the RFP Database and revising the content to higher-quality and more exacting institutional standards.
6. Attending sales, consultant and investment meetings; thereby providing ICM with proactive assessment of content needs to drive business.
7. Keeping pace with concepts and trends in the institutional domain in order to aid in creation of competitively relevant copy.
The Proposal Content Manager is responsible for assisting in the ongoing effort to bring rigor and discipline to the processes and procedures around the creation of institutional sales and marketing content. In that regard, the associate needs to:
8. Collaborate with internal associates, such as Manager/Institutional Writers Group, Manager/RFP Support Group and the respective RFP Editors, to review and approve the cross-unit processes and procedures driving RFP content development.
9. Maintain awareness of applicability of internal and external content management resources, such as Enterprise Content Management systems, so as to ensure that content development remains state of the art.
10. Ability to lead training and development around the creation and implementation of institutional-level editorial standards for more robust content creation.
11. The Proposal Content Manager is expected to devote a portion of time to “value-added content,” which may entail research and broader topic development.
Qualifications:
*College degree and 8-10 years of institutional investment experience with a minimum of 5 years of RFP content development preferred
*Thorough understanding of institutional investment management business;
*In-depth knowledge of institutional investment products and services ideally across multiple distribution channels;
*Experience in financial writing or technical writing;
*Experience editing proposals;
*Mastery of fundamental investment knowledge, institutional portfolio concepts, and basic quantitative analysis;
*Strong understanding of institutional domain and competitive landscape;
*Strong interpersonal skills;
*Experience interfacing with senior market-facing professionals;
*Communications and negotiation skills;
*Ability to handle multi-tasks in deadline-driven environment;
*Ability to work independently and collaboratively; and
*Project management and organizational skills
*MBA, CFA, Series 7 or relevant NASD registration desirable.
