We have an opportunity for an IT Help Desk Technician I, to provide first level telephone support to all users of computer systems in the store environment, corporate end users, and field representives offering software, hardware and operational support. This support is provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Log and assist with non-computer related calls and computer calls on the help desk. Assist in system testing, upgrades, access to both hardware and software, and in the polling of sales and other data from stores.

There is one position available:
Thursdays - Mondays, 10:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.


Duties and Responsibilities:

-Answer telephone calls from the store environment, corporate end users and field representatives regarding user support of computer systems.

-Document calls in tracking application and refer more complex issues to qualified IT Help Desk management, Store Systems staff member, Network Services and Polaris Support.

-Utilize predetermined procedures to resolve simple error messages, providing software and operational support related to store systems, registers, and procedures, including wall cabling.

-Follow pre-set models to configure, test and upgrade all store register and computer equipment as instructed. .

-Assist in troubleshooting network connectivity issues.

-Assist in polling sales and other data from the stores as instructed.

-Access Active Directory to resolve issues with User Accounts, Outlook, PETCO's Polaris database and other software.

-Test and reset passwords on Laptops, Blackberries and PC computers

-Maintain documentation of records and testing procedures for the I.S. department.


Education/Experience:

-A high school diploma or equivalent (GED)

-Technical skills in computer support/service, hardware and/or software is required, while a 2-year degree in computer systems is preferred.

-Minimum experience is one year in a similar technical computer support environment, XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, and Windows NT support experience is preferred.

-Must be extremely customer service oriented due to the volume of calls and the nature of the calls being somewhat repetitive at the level.

-Must possess strong verbal communication, problem solving and analytical skills and have the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

-Must be able to work a 40-hour week as the job operates 24 hours/day and 7 days/week and the scheduled shifts may rotate. Weekends may be required.
