PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Working under the direction and guidance of Business Systems/Solutions Development Managers, this role serves as the business and end-user computing project lead, for small scale end-user computing projects within TRPO, and frequently assists more senior staff in larger project efforts. Incumbent participates in the analysis, development, recommendation and implementation of end-user computing solutions. This role requires strong analytical and end-user computing development skills in order to solve the business problems and opportunities. This position may serve as a liaison between the business and technical communities to interpret and explain recommended technical solutions to business sponsors and vice versa, explain the business needs to technical communities.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Leadership – Responsible for leading small scale to moderate size end-user computing projects. Responsibilities include: coordinating development efforts; creating appropriate project documentation (i.e. project plans, schedules, costs, requirements, testing strategies, test cases, test plans, progress reports, etc.); planning and conducting meetings in order to liaise with IT and other business units on various initiatives; providing post implementation support as needed. Frequently supports senior staff in larger and/or more complex end-user computing projects and initiatives.
Solutions Development – Using end-user computing expertise and knowledge, provides day-to-day support to a variety of TRPO clients as assigned. Support can range from ad-hoc troubleshooting to analyzing and resolving complicated business problems. Uses advanced oral and written communication skills to make technical and non-technical material understandable to business sponsors. Works in conjunction with IT and business partners to recommend and implement solutions which reduce risk and/or create efficiencies.
Production Support – Develop alternative recommendations leading to solutions for new end-user computing applications or enhancements to current applications for more effective utilization. Participate in system development; defining process issues and working with the appropriate subject-matter experts through to resolution. Provides on-going, day-to-day application management and change control for existing end-user computing applications deployed.
Application Development/Analysis – Participates in the implementation of end-user computing solutions for multiple clients with TRPO based on business process and technical knowledge; acts as lead end-user computing developer and business analyst on small to moderate sized projects; generates application enhancements based on evaluations of business needs; evaluates requirements impact on other systems, processes and expected benefits; turns process requirements into system design; partners with business unit management and staff needed for project to be a success; works with management and staff on how to effectively use new and existing applications; manages testing efforts; trains associates.
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience leading small business/technology projects
Understanding of business software/systems analysis techniques
Prior experience with the software development lifecycle and change control.
Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels, including external parties.
Knowledge of Microsoft VB, VBA, and .NET
Knowledge of database design terminology and SQL.
Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong customer relationship skills
Negotiation skills.
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
Self-motivated and self-reliant. Must work well independently and take initiative with assigned projects.
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Business Process Analysis and reengineering
Facilitation skills
Proficient in common business software applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Visio, PowerPoint).
Familiar with all aspects of business change including policies and procedures, training, testing and user adoption.
Bachelor’s degree in business or technology preferred
2 - 3 years of relevant work experience; having some experience in the investment management industry preferred
Systems analysis and/or systems integration experience using end-user computing technology (ex. Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Access) preferred
System developer experience preferred
Experience with Microsoft .NET and SQL Server database development preferred
