Job Summary

Wyeth statisticians collaborate with their colleagues on the experimental design, protocol development, data analysis, and data interpretation of studies designed to develop medicines needed worldwide. The successful candidate will be responsible for statistical support of chemical and pharmaceutical development projects at our Pearl River, New York facility. Individuals in this position will typically collaborate with industrial process scientists, analytical chemists, and product formulators in formulating compounds into final dosage forms; developing manufacturability into processes, and validating methods for testing these compounds. The successful candidate will often assume primary statistical responsibility for one or more projects, and will also contribute as part of a collaborative team.

Job Responsibilities

Participate in the planning of formulation and process design of experiments. This includes determining study designs (factorial, split-plot, RSM, etc.), proposing and applying methods of analyses, and developing associated liaisons with formulation staff.
Responsible for the statistical analysis and interpretation of data from analytical chemistry method development activities.
Expected to maintain current with literature review and membership of professional groups. Attendance at scientific meetings and appropriate courses is encouraged.

Individuals should demonstrate strong interest in statistical research activities.

Basic Qualifications

*A Masters Degree in Statistics with at least 5 years of relevant experience or a PhD with at least 1 year of relevant experience. A major in Statistics, Biostatistics, or in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics if there is a large statistical component is preferred. Candidates with less experience may also be considered.
*Relevant experience includes statistical work with pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, medical device or clinical research organizations (CRO) or consulting to those entities.
*Statistical programming, e.g., SAS, experience is preferred.
*Experience with data problem solving, determining the most effective way to analyze and present data in line with regulatory requirements is desirable.
