RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Material Handling / Building Systems –Direct maintenance staff, ensuring proper maintenance & preventive maintenance tasks are performed. Provide project management for implementation of capital projects. Work with vendors / contractors to design and implement logistical / layout changes. Negotiate and execute maintenance / building upkeep contracts. Monitor safety of equipment & facility to ensure a safe working environment.
- Engineering Initiatives – Direct engineering efforts and staff to develop and implement work methods and procedures for various operations in the distribution center. Direct and train engineering staff with the development of production standards for these operations and define reporting against those standards. Recommend and justify the implementation of productivity improvement projects. Maintain accurate layouts of current equipment configurations and propose alternative designs for future modifications.
- Department Management – Prepare and manage facilities budgets and staffing plans. Act as strategic partner in the development of organization priorities and objectives to assist in long term planning.
- Budget / Strategic Planning –Provide estimates and proposed layouts for capital planning.
- New Business / Project Planning – Provide input on operational impact of new business initiatives. Facilitate User Acceptance Testing of systems / operational changes. Investigate, develop and recommend new equipment for all operational areas.
EDUCATION:
- College degree required. BSIE / BSME preferred.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 + years experience in engineering / maintenance management position, preferably in an automated distribution center.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written. Must be comfortable with group presentations.
- Ability to work with cast members at all levels.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Strong background in productivity improvement / measurement. Experience designing production incentive programs.
- Layout skills needed. CAD experience preferred.
- Strong analytical ability is required.
- Must have experience with budget preparation.
- Departmental management experience.
- PC proficiency.
