Support Engineer 2($25.00 – 30.00/hr) MG
We are looking for passionate, talented and experienced individuals to help scale and maintain the backend infrastructure that powers our high-traffic consumer-facing travel web site. The Farecast site and backend is built on Java/Linux/OS technologies. If you have experience with these technologies as well as MS technologies, you could be the ideal candidate to help assimilate Farecast into Live Search technology platforms (e.g. GFS, Cosmos, Auto-Pilot).
Specific skills are the following:
Experience with Tomcat or Jboss, Apache and MySQL on Linux (minimum 2 years)
Experience with network design concepts, implementation and infrastructure support
Strong understanding of IP-based communications and systems monitoring
Experience with load balancing/clustering of web and database servers
Ability to program in one or more of the following: C/C++, SQL, PHP, Perl, shell scripting and/or Java
Experience supporting Windows, Mac, and Linux desktops
An emphasis on knowing linux is very important. A linux systems admininistrator or engineer who is comfortable with working on building and managing a network of linux systems. If they don’t have linux on their resume, then they are not the right person we are looking for.
