Description: NURSING SUPERVISOR SHIFT ADMINISTRATOR SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians and all members of the health care team. Maintains accurate staffing and census records. Acts as in-house resource for staff, patients, visitors and physicians. Assists units and families with patient expirations. Responds to potential and/or actual emergency situations with direct and appropriate actions. Coordinates patient transfers and/or admissions in the absence of Admission Center coordinator. Obtains and communicates bed assignments in the absence of Admission Center coordinator. Demonstrates ability in using hospital information systems. Pursues opportunities to enhance personal and professional growth. Communicates with peers and others to exchange feedback on service issues and to solve problems. Assist with the orientation and follow-up of Float Pool employees. Assures management of other specific routines. EXPERIENCE Required Four years experience as a Registered Nurse with demonstrated proficiency in leadership and management skills. Preferred Two years experience in a Nursing Management role. EDUCATION Required Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Virginia. BLS and ACLS certified. Preferred B.S.N. degree or currently enrolled in a program of study obtaining a B.S.N.
