Under the direction of the Director, Corporate Transportation & Logistics, the Manager - Corporate Trucking Operations has General Management responsibility for leading and managing Kohler Co. Private Fleet operations, and for ensuring cost effective operation of a nationwide medium-sized trucking company operating from multiple domiciles. Responsible for administration, expertise and control for all Private Fleet programs, including service execution, sustained safe operations and compliance with US Government safety and driver management programs.
Kohler Transport (KTI) and Baker (BKT) Private Fleets are distinct business units of Kohler Co. with P&L scope of more than US$15M. This leader exercises independent judgment, initiative and discretion in support of strategic business objectives, core competencies and guiding principles.
General Management accountability for KTI Private Fleet P&L of more than US$12M, and indirectly lead (through dotted line role) BKT Private Fleet of more than US$3M. With operational responsibility for Kohler Co. Private Truck Fleet operations within North American logistics networks, drive on-time, cost-effective, safe and secure execution to serve all US-based business units
Implement Kohler strategy for Private Fleet employment and transportation asset management, recommending improvements or changes to deliver value to Kohler Co. Make recommendations for the addition, replacement and maintenance of all equipment in KTI, BKT, Kohler Corporate Receiving, and Corporate Auto Pool
Manages vendor relationships as necessary. Directly responsible for Private Fleet service providers supporting all US-based operations, to ensure cost-effective, consistent and acceptable service levels are maintained for all US-based businesses. Sets vendor selection and performance parameters. Innovates and drives continuous improvement
Negotiate, set and maintain third party price/service contracts to provide maximum benefit to Kohler Co. Create and implement third-party-customer revenue generation plans. Supervise auditing and payment of freight bills and invoices pertaining to KTI
Ensure sustained compliance with US Government or other regulatory agency requirements governing driver safety, equipment maintenance, record-keeping or similar activity
Prepare annual capital and expense budgets, financial plan documents, variance explanations, plus create and implement improvement initiatives. Collaborating with Corporate Accounting and Finance, manage cost allocation and charge back amounts for internal users of KTI, Corporate Receiving and Corporate Auto Pool services
Lead day-to-day operations of KTI departments, and provide strong management for exempt leaders at field locations. Mentor BKT leaders, set policy and provide guidance for day-to-day operations of BKT
Recruit, hire, train, and develop subordinate leaders and associates. Own and manage leadership team, driver and dispatch relationships; ensure appropriate preparation and submission of driver work and pay records for Union, non-Union and third-party associates. This includes:

Manage Kohler, WI "In-plant Freight" trailer movement and spotting activity
Manage Corporate Auto pool cars and related programs
Ensure accurate submission of hourly associate daily time reports
Ensure business expenses and expense reports conform to policy and third-party service/purchase agremements and/or Union labor contract(s)
Ensure appropriate transportation documentation requirements, acceptable performance metrics and monitoring tools are in place to support effective operations.
