Position Summary:
The Information Technology (IT) Project Manager Level III actively leads and manages all phases of the project lifecycle from initiation through closure, including project team definition, project planning, documentation, vendor selection contract management, product purchasing, full project execution, tracking, reporting, rollout, interfaces with training and support groups, and formalized project closure. Under general direction of either a Portfolio Manager or Program Manager, leads and directs high-priority projects which often require significant resources and high levels of functional integration.
Essential Functions:
* In accordance with JetBlue IT policies and processes, delivers quality IT solutions with high degrees of customer satisfaction supported by clear, detailed project documentation
* Actively manages a reasonable portfolio of projects from start to finish including:
Initiation
* Works with the Systems Manager in support of project chartering and initiation activities
* Drives and challenges business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
Planning:
* Using workshops, surveys, interviews, site visits, task and workflow analysis on other methodologies develops clear actionable scope from which complete and comprehensive requirements can be created
* Collaborates with developers, architects, subject matter experts, and other IT team members to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs
* Creates the Project Plan, which includes a Project Scope Statement, Work Breakdown Structure, Schedule, Communication Plan, Quality Plan, Resource Plan, and Risk Management Plan
* Supervises the business analyst in developing clear, traceable functional and system requirements (including security, business continuity, and other applicable requirements) generated from best practice requirement-gathering techniques
* Effectively manages project communications and ensures a common understanding by setting expectations in accordance with the Project Plan, in order to align the stakeholders and team members
* Secures funding and resources adequate to deliver the agreed upon scope
Execution and Control:
* Inspires loyalty and trust, handles oneself ethically following core values and beliefs
* Builds mutual trust and encourages respect and cooperation among team members
* Actively executes the Project Plan including managing project scope, completion of tasks, anticipating and managing project risks and ensuring a quality product is delivered to the customer's satisfaction on time and within budget
* Tracks progress of the project schedule, scope and resources (including budget) compares to original plan, works with team to take corrective action if the project is not tracking to plan and regularly communicate status to project stakeholders
* Ensures that appropriate training programs are in place for all support and end-user crewmembers
* Ensures that appropriate testing (including Systems, User Acceptance, Performance, etc.) and quality assurance activities occurs and that documented use cases, test scenarios, test scripts and other artifacts supporting testing are generated
* Ensures that activities supporting the deployment of deliverables are executed in accordance with JetBlue IT policies and procedures
* Ensures that appropriate post-deployment support and production support is in place to support the product to meet agreed upon service level agreements;
* In accordance with JetBlue IT policies and procedures, secure user acceptance of project deliverables
* Conduct project closure sessions including documented Lessons Learned and communicate them to the appropriate audience within JetBlue IT
* Administratively close projects through contract closure, release of resources provision of feedback to resource managers, and archiving of project documentation
* Participate in project audits, closure activities or other quality initiatives as required by JetBlue IT policies and procedures
Interactions:
Supervision Received:
* Works under minimal supervision
* Plans and carries out work assignments; resolves most conflicts which arise; coordinates work with others as necessary; works with Portfolio Managers and System Managers to interpret policy in terms of established objectives
* Keeps Crewleader/Teamleader informed on a regular basis, escalating issues as appropriate to ensure timely delivery of projects with quality
* Interfaces with all areas affected by the project including end users, distributors, and vendors;
* Wide latitude for independent judgment
Supervisory Duties:
* May assist or even supervise less experienced peers
* Acts as mentor and subject-matter expert on project management to less experienced peers and the business
Experience:
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in related discipline with specialized leadership training and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through previous experience and education
* A minimum of six (6) years of demonstrated success as a Senior Project Manager or Program Manager, showing a track record of delivering large, complex projects/programs under budget and on schedule
* Experience managing projects ranging from $750K to $5M USD with team sizes ranging from twenty (20) to fifty (50) members across multiple locations
* Sound business and technical awareness gained within a multi-faceted organization in excess of 2,500 - 10,000 users

* Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
* Regular attendance and punctuality
* Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

* Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices for project management, software engineering and business processes, such as: Project Management Institute methodology (PMI's PMBOK) Project Management Maturity
