We have an opportunity for an Assistant Systems Administrator to assist the Network Services Manager in troubleshooting and resolving system related problems for the National Support Center staff and field locations with regard to hardware and software, facilitate system upgrades, system design analysis, and research new system architecture technologies. This individual will act as project manager for deploying new hardware and software within the enterprise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform system builds, upgrades, security patches, and provide overall monitoring of all computer systems connected to the network.

Research, recommend and install new system software and hardware.

Provide support and troubleshooting on current system technologies including Citrix remote access system, video teleconferencing systems, etc.

Provide support and troubleshooting of SMS patch and build delivery system.

Travel via automobile to executive's homes to install and troubleshoot connectivity issues to PETCO's network.

Research, recommend, and order new hardware and software.

Provide backup support to Network Services as necessary, for example during high call volume or to fill in for vacation and illness.

Perform special projects as assigned.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) required. Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA) preferred. Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MSCE) preferred.

A minimum of 5 years experience in a computer networking environment supporting Microsoft NT and / or Server 2003 systems, including at least 2 years prior XP support experience required.

Strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills required due to the nature of involvement with all associates, especially senior and executive management when installing and troubleshooting systems and hardware at their residences.
