Description:
Under the division of Kitchen & Bath, Plumbing America's this position will define, plan and execute projects in a timely, thorough and data-driven manner; resulting in improved quality and reduced costs for Plumbing Americas' products. Initiate and lead focused problem-solving programs to eliminate scrap/rework or warranty costs. Directly interface with top management and lead projects within Operations, New Product Development, Supply Chain and Customer Service required.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides a high level of structured problem-solving expertise across one of several Plumbing Americas Fixtures locations: Global Metals Operations, Global Plastics and Bathing Manufacturing, or Global Vitreous. Partners effectively at all levels in the organization.
Executes projects requiring efficient deployment of problem-solving methodologies.
Directs and coordinates activities by process engineers, operations personnel, and outside groups involving scrap/rework reduction and warranty improvement initiatives.
Works closely with plant teams to assure that projects are completed and defects are permanently eliminated. Provide detailed failure-analysis and problem-solving feedback to project teams.
Leverages yield improvements across product lines and plant locations.
Counsels and trains less senior engineers and technical support personnel in technical areas as required.
Manages problem-solving programs, leads teams and leverages findings to produce significant business impact.
Uses business acumen to augment the problem identification and decision making processes.
Maintains program records and prepares technical, cost, and other reports to show project progress as required.
Conducts/attends Technical reviews and contributes sound professional opinion, creative ideas, concepts, and approaches to product design and process development projects. Applies data-driven methods to process and product improvements.
Keeps abreast of new technologies, products and supply/distribution channels relative to the plumbing industry.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A Senior Staff Quality Engineer possesses a high level of technical and management skills necessary to complete complex and multi-faceted projects. Communication and team building/leading skills must be exemplary. The ability to direct the activities of other support personnel to meet project objectives is very important. Direct leadership responsibility of multiple project teams and matrix-management of supporting functions is required within this position.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of eight years of work experience is required to obtain this level of technical competence, leadership and results. Metals or Plastics expertise, or a Ceramic Engineering Degree is preferred.
Candidate must be certified, highly proficient and currently active as a Shainin RedX™ problem-solving for manufacturing Journeyman, Master or Masters Candidate.
