We are now interested in reviewing suitably qualified and experienced applications for a Manufacturing Engineer- Materials to work at our state of the art facility in Cork, Ireland. This is a  TEMPORARY (18 months) position.

Purpose Statement

Vendor Engineer II in the Vendor Engineering Team: This concentrates on all aspects of supplier selection, supplier process & material changes and technical support for all purchased commodities in BSC Cork. The Vendor Engineering Team is responsible for the technical leadership and resolution of risks within the supply chain, new product introduction and achieving year-on-year material cost reduction targets.


 
Key Responsibilities

· Partner with Purchasing, Planning, Supplier Quality and Business Units to provide technical and commodity leadership for all aspects of Supplier Management.
·Demonstrates Technical skills and leadership in Commodity Management.
·Support the introduction of new products to the facility driving materials supply chain excellence from project due diligence to commercialization.  
·Responsible for supporting material site objectives in terms of Quality, Cost and Service.
·Supports Continuous Improvement of Quality & Quality Systems, Service Capability and Total Cost of Ownership throughout the Supply Chain.
·Supports investigation of Supply Chain Risk as they arise. Works with Quality, Procurement & Business Units to set resolution strategy and manage implementation.
·Promotes the Quality System within the Supply Base.
·Participates in the development and implementation of Global Commodity Strategies.
·Completes technical capability assessment of potential suppliers to support formation of site strategy for new or existing products.
·Provides guidance to other functional areas in applying Supplier Management system requirements.
·Contributes to the development, maintenance and improvement of Supplier Management Policies and Procedures.
·Communicates effectively with all Internal & External Stakeholders.
·Develops new Supply sources with Procurement Team
·Assesses and Approves Supplier Requested Process Changes 
·Identifies, Supports and Leads Material Value Improvement Projects (VIP?s) throughout the Supply Chain.
 
 
Typical Education and Experience Guidelines

·Bachelor''s degree (HETAC level 8) and minimum 3 years relevant work experience.
·Demonstrated track record in development of new supply sources advantageous
·Project Management skills to manage Supplier and Material changes.
·Material Science or Material Engineering background is advantageous.
·Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification is desired.
·Lean working knowledge is desired.
·Ability to work with minimum supervision and in a fast paced environment.
·Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
