Job Description

Job Title:      Senior Industrial Engineer
 
PURPOSE STATEMENT     
 
Responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing manufacturing and business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, reduce the work-in-process, improve fill-rates, and improve process flow and efficiency. These actions will occur across multiple facets of Boston Scientific''s organization including: manufacturing, design, supplier development, documentation, and Boston Scientific suppliers. Projects will incorporate lean manufacturing, theory of constraints, quick response manufacturing, Just-In-Time, Methods-Time Measurement, or a variety of other systems improvement philosophies. The employee will be required to create strong relationships with team members internal and external to Boston Scientific to ensure project success.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES   
 
  •    Analyzes, creates and implements manufacturing and/or business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, eliminate non-valued added, reduce work in process and improve fill rates.
  •    Leads / takes part in initiatives to improve continuous improvement culture on site (i.e. Employee Suggestion systems, Lean Training, coaching/mentoring)
  •    Performs time studies and conducts line balancing activities to drive productivity improvements on production floors
  •    Leads 3-5 day Kaizen events to drive improvements that impact productivity, throughput, operator errors or unit cost of product
  •    Performs short/long term capacity analysis, layout planning, and move facilitation
     
    QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS       
     
    In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
     
    For those individuals that supervise others, the following statements are applicable:
  •     Assures that appropriate resources (personnel, tools, etc.) are maintained in order to assure Quality System compliance and adherence to the BSC Quality Policy.
  •     Establishes and promotes a work environment that supports the Quality Policy and Quality System.
     
    Education and Experience, or Equivalent
    - 5 - 8 years with BS, 3 - 6 years with MS
    - 3-5 years experience driving continuous improvement in an operations environment
    - Demonstrated ability to apply Lean manufacturing principles to drive results
    - Experience leading Kaizen events???
    - Experience conducting line balancing/labor analysis activities
    - Very strong communication skills
    - 4 year degree in Industrial Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering strongly preferred, 4 year Engineering degree required
