We are seeking applications from suitably qualified & experienced Manufacturing Technicians (Materials) with analytical/ material testing experience.

Job Purpose:

Part of core team to respond to equipment, yield and process related issues, implement corrective and preventative actions to eliminate repeat instances.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers in developing, trouble shooting, standardising and improving existing production methods and procedures. A strong focus will be on supporting core polymer processes including Extrusion & Injection Moulding from a materials perspective.
  • Primary production support for all materials preparation / testing processes and equipment (including resin drying, mixing, de-dusting and resin moisture analysis).
  • Full responsibility for preventative maintenance procedures for above equipment.
  • Maintain a critical spares inventory for key maintenance items for above equipment to minimise downtime.
  • Identification of suitable material testing & analysis techniques to support troubleshooting.
  • Assist MEs & Technicians in investigating material related issues.
  • Assist ME?s in investigating and implementing new production methods.
  • Assist ME?s in design methods, part sourcing and documentation.
  • Perform equipment qualifications and validations, including report writing etc.
  • Design, specify, manufacture, test and document production equipment, changes and improvements.
  • Interface with a variety of Boston Scientific personnel (including at other BSC sites) and with outside vendors when necessary while performing the above.
  • Communicates any concerns about work process regarding environmental impact, health or safety issues to their Manager.

    Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Third level qualification, ideally to Degree level, in Polymer/Materials Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of polymer material analysis & testing techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of Extrusions & Injection Moulding processes.
  • General manufacturing processing knowledge with at least 2 years previous experience in a manufacturing environment with preferably medical device experience.
  • Good technical capabilities, communication skills, teamwork abilities and initiative.
  • Proven ability to work well both as part of a team but also able to work on own with minimum supervision.
