The Legal Division strives to be a valuable business partner by providing timely legal advice and counsel that protects the integrity, reputation, and business of Fifth Third Bancorp. Attorneys, paralegals, and administrative assistants work in unison to support all lines of business in their daily activities, decision-making, performance, and in the achievement of strategic initiatives and goals.

Fifth Third Bank is accepting applications for an attorney to support its Capital Markets Division. This position would support a growing capital markets group that offers a wide array of financial solutions to mid-market and large corporate clients seeking to support their enterprise through risk management techniques, capital raising initiatives and life cycle events. This person would also provide legal support to the Capital Markets Division for new product development, litigation management and the Division's separate material initiatives, such as merger and acquisition activity and regulatory matters.
The ideal candidate would have the following skill set:
# Legal focus on large bank commercial banking products, working closely with bank partners on real-world matters;
# Deep experience with Interest Rate, FX and Commodity swap transactions, with an expertise in relationship to hedges of corporate secured lending, project finance and structured derivative transactions and related loan documentation;
# Knowledge of Dodd Frank Act Title VII, particularly in relevant areas for end-users such as ECPs, Guarantors, disclosure and business conduct standards for swap dealers;
# Knowledge of and deep experience with the requirements of the Volcker Rule, particularly as applied to underwriting, trading operations and covered funds activities;
# Knowledge of and deep experience with the '33 and '34 acts as they relate to the duties of underwriters, brokers and dealers in various products;
# Knowledge of FINRA, MSRB and NFA regulations;
# Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with senior executives, compliance, risk, business controls, front office, and back office regarding industry initiatives and protocols as well as bank policies such as capital usage and related netting of transactions;
# Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently, manage multiple clients, make effective decisions and collaborate with clients;
# Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision; and
# Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.

Experience Required

.Minimum 10 years experience preferred.
.J.D. required.
.Admission to a state bar.
.Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
.Problem resolution and analytical skills and the ability to interact well with all organizational levels.
.Previous leadership experience preferred or equivalent mentorship/management of project work.
.Exposure to senior professionals, executive presence needed.
