Adecco is assisting a local client recruiting for an experienced Expediter/Buyer/Purchasing Manager in Richmond, VA. Responsibilities for this Expediter/Buyer/Purchasing Manager position include:

- Work with suppliers to expedite material for project needs.
- Executed and maintained long term relationships with suppliers.
- Maintain timely and continual contact with local and international suppliers to ensure required documentation is submitted and material is fabricated and delivered on schedule.
- Updated company database to reflect current delivery dates and other issues.
- Prepared and executed the expediting plan for projects.
- Work with suppliers to expedite material for project needs.
- Controlled late shipments and late promise orders to 7% or less.
- Participate in supplier performance evaluations.
- Discuss concerns or problems with suppliers for corrective actions.
- Work with engineering on suppliers NCR’s and change orders.
- Have daily meeting with staff on supplier performance, issues, concerns, changes.
- Generate, submit, and follow up on request for quotes (RFQ's) and purchase orders(PO's) to facilitate on time delivery.
- Ensuring the timely receipt of materials, goods and services so that production schedules and deadlines can be met.
- Extensive vendor interface required.
- Works in the purchasing department and may handle other purchasing related tasks as required.
- Establish a consistent and on-time shipping schedule through communication with suppliers.
- Contacting suppliers/vendors/shippers for updates on delivery schedules and/or improvement of the schedules.
- Developing formal relationships with the suppliers to minimize the points of contact.
- Performing clerical and data entry duties to support the purchasing and sales team.
- Involving management when continuous problems occur and poor supplier performance becomes an issue.
- Confer with company personnel and vendors to coordinate shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
- Communicate with transportation companies to prevent delays in transit, puts tracers on shipment in cases of en route delays, and may arrange for distribution of materials upon arrival.
- Files, obtains and organizes documents, purchase orders, quotes and etc.
- Support Buyers and Sr Buyers in their daily activities with inventory management.
- Strong computer skills and proficient in MS Office.


Qualifications:

- Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2-4 years of directly related experience
- Knowledge of the air, expedited, LTL and cartage areas required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to multi-task, follow direction and work in a team.
- Able to prepare for emerging customer needs
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Hourly pay $13-$22/hour based on experience
